Serena Williams beat Sharapova of Russia in two straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 even after loosing the first two games in the first set, to win her second ladies french open title after 11 long years and her 16th grand slam. I remember vividly how she smashed her racket frustratingly on the clay court during her 2004 final match to Davenport and the fans laughed at her. Since then she couldn’t win the french open she last won in 2002. Talk about long suffering, endurance and perseverance.
