Tomorrow, 25/5/2013 in Wembley Stadium, London, UK, by 7.45pm Nigerian time, two German clubs would face each other in the first all German club UEFA Champions League final. This is the second time Wembley would host the UEFA Champions League final as it did back in 2011, when Barcelona beat Manchester United 3-1 to become champions of Europe. Who would it be this time, Bayern Munich, dramatic losers to Chelsea, last year at the Allianz Arena, the home ground of bayern or Borussia Dortmund, the team that beat the mighty Real Madrid. Lest I forget, Bayern Munich beat Barcelona 7-0 to reach the finals, and since Manchester United won it in 2008, any team that beats Barcelona has won it. Manchester United beat Barcelona to win it 2008. Barcelona won it 2009. Inter Milan beat Barcelona in 2010 with Maurinho, the special one to win it against Bayern. Barcelona won it again in 2011. Chelsea beat Barcelona, to deny Bayern Munich in their second final in three years, last year. This is Bayern’s third final since 2010. As they effortlessly swept off Barcelona both home and away and inflicted them their worst defeat both home and away in the UCL, me thinks Bayern would win it this time, but me thinks that Borussia Dortmund might act as spoilers as Chelsea did last year.
Borussia Dortmund is my favorite club in Germany. Bayern Munich are a good side but they remind me of a certain club in England, Manchester United. They win all the time and when one team wins all the time, I find them boring and that’s why I support Arsenal. I hope that Arsenal would start winning again as Borussia Dortmund have been doing as they last won a major championship in Germany in 1997. Then they started winning again in 2010 when they have been winning the German bundesliga and German Cup.
Borrusia Dortmund has one special player, Robert Lewandoski from Poland, whose goals sent Dortmund to the UCL finals. Another is Mario Gotze, who signed for Bayern Munich on the eve of their second leg semi final clash with Real Madrid. This move let Dortmund fans down and fortunately for Bayern, Gotze would miss the finals tomorrow. Bayern Munich has some players who can cause mayhem to any club. Players like Bastian Schweinsteiger, Mario Gomez, Toni Kroos, Thomas Muller, Philipp Lahm, Arjen Robben and Frank Riberry hold the aces to Bayern Munich’s UCL hopes but Borussia Dortmund, with it’s team of rookies, have defeated this Bayern team before. The last match between both teams ended in a 1-1 draw, Bayern had earlier beaten Dortmund 1-0 and 2-1 in the German Super Cup last year, but in the German Cup final in Berlin, in 2012, Dortmund beat Bayern 5-2 just days after Chelsea had beaten them on penalty kicks in the UCL finals. This is not going to be an easy game.
Bayern would go all out in attack and try and score early goals but Dortmund would sit back and counter attack Bayern. This has been the way Dortmund have been beating Bayern. I hope it won’t be a boring match. Bayern won the Champions League four times in 1974, 1975, 1976 and 2001, two years after Manchester United beat Bayern in Spain. Dortmund beat Juventus, with a team that included Zinedine Zidane 3-1 to win their first UCL cup in 1997. So this would be the fifth win for Bayern if they win and second win for Dortmund. This match would end in penalties. For me I am gonna wear my black and yellow colors and will be playing Whiz Khalifa’s Black n Yellow single all day with a bottle of cold Heineken, the official sponsors of the UCL.
